In full gnosis of the effects, events, and environment; I say gno.
The main character is mostly a false know-it-all in the perspective of the reader as "the catch" is unknown to the reader i.e. not written in the prose. So protagonal smartness is a gag most of the time, a "literal genius" if you will -- touche! I don't know the exact literal device Dan Brown uses but I'm gonna call it a fractal narrative, but hold on there, it's not implemented as cool as it sounds.
So, basically, there is a novel in the novel "The Secret of Secrets" that mimics each other. I wanted it to be cool but one of the characters is a typical Jewish New York Publisher as Hero...just too much to bare. Other things, the main character mentions things like Harry Met Sally (twice?) and other cultural absurdities. Stupid.
The book apologizes for the CIA & Military with the same stale refrain of, "If we don't do it someone will" which the same logic can be applied to almost any nefarious thing. The main topic of the book is very interesting however and the plot isn't too bad but gets patriotically unbelieveable and naive at the end, making it a simpy ending with a bit of upchuck.
6.9 out of 10 mostly for the great topic.
