Macbook Pro M5 14" 2025 Review

Reviews,Apple

I've been using MacBook Pros for like a decade as I hate the Microsoft Windows experience so much. MacOS has world class design tools and a FreeBSD userspace. Tahoe makes Windows 11 seem like it came out of 2015. However, the increasing cloud/thick-client, Activation/Erasure, and Walled-Garden nature of MacOS is now officially absurd. Given the Design tools are so world class, it says a lot that I'm leaving the Apple ecosystem.

I had been using a MacBook Pro 2019 (a Christmas Gift since I am broke as fuck and could never afford one myself) from then until now. I expected jumping into an M5 would be a whole 'nother level of mind blowing computing... not ..at ..all. It was just faster and more comfortable.

Apple AI sucked and it was another companies product which is so strange to make it a "killer app" in your OS marketing. Before I get to the kicker lemme just talk about the laptop's RAM. I first got the highest retail generic version with 16GB. With widgets of Little Snitch, Things, Weather, and disabling nearly everything else, I was using 11GB of RAM, absolutely ridiculous, so I returned that version and got a 24GB for $200 extra and that fixed that ...except!

It ran hot much of the time using just a single fan and that fan did not sound Tier A so I returned it. Bye Apple.

P.S. My above referenced MBP broke and was fixed under AppleCare at Las Vegas Town Square incl the battery and screen and even after having wiped it completely 2 times it came back with some of my stuff on it and now the battery drains all the time even when off in a RFID bag, like it's sending a signal out or something...I could detect it with SDR but I'm lazy and I'm almost sure it's sending out a signal given what has happened with my previous devices.

Did you know Military Avionics can read Bluetooth and WiFi from flight altitude? Ask Gemini about it if you must in browser private mode under VPN.
